4. to make up for all that rambling, here's a pretty picture of the cake i made with a friend! (see, i'm still happy hahaha)

we even made our own fondant out of marshmallows and powdered sugar. and it was delicious.

this is just a few photos of things i've been up to recently..

making a photo album slash journal. meaning i might write things in it at one point but for right now it's just a collection of all my favourite photos on film (which you've seen before). and other prettynesses (which you have not seen before).

the cover, which i tried to keep as simple as possible. this picture reminds me of the secret garden entrance, so i couldn't not have it as the cover photo beckoning you inside. maybe i should find/draw a key to put somewhere on there too... hmm

and now just some of my favourite pages:

in other news (but still involving much of the same), zach made a fisheye attachment for my digital camera - made out of a peephole! it's awesome, and yes i am aware of my unhealthy obsession with fisheye photos

here's what it can do:

a little blurry because it's difficult to focus when most of the screen is blacked out, and a little grainy because the actual picture is so small. but still, i like it. it gives me a chance to play around with the fisheye concept without waiting to get photos developed. instant gratification.

i've also been making a dress - based of off this pattern. i made the sleeves separate pieces instead of a whole front-plus-sleeves deal. primarily because i didn't have enough fabric, but also because i wanted to make it a little more 'mine'. i'm going to add a collar too.
but it's not finished yet so no photos!

so i got my films developed! warning!!!: LOTS of photos in this post!

unfortunately many of the fisheye photos were either a) of random members of zach's family, or b) taken by someone who did not know the wonders of a fisheye lens,and therefore don't look cool at all
but the few that i got i like! so all is well :)

i was going to wait until i had some film photos printed, but i still haven't finished the rolls (fish eye & regular slr), so here's just a couple digital ones i took of the ice that greeted us after our 14 hour drive up here!

i think this last one is one of my most favourite photos i've ever taken...

i just really hate birds

i hadn't planned on making this an outfit post, but since we got out before the sun started disappearing, we got some really cool shots (thanks to zach!), and so i think they deserve their own post
(and yes, i made another collar. i did warn you though.)

there are a whole lot of lakes here.. unfortunately that means there's also a whole lot of birds. big birds. with scrawny looking snake necks. that make death noises. and do things like this:
